Sounds from the Oberheim Xpander
The Xpander came out in 1984 and is often called the "last statement" in analog synthesizer design. Digitally controlled but with a plain analog signal path this synthesizer combines the best of both worlds. Soon the Xpander established as the state-of-the-art machine for the creation of pads and textures. With its warmth and depth this synthesizer was a perfect complement to the all digital and omnipresent DX7 at this time.
The Oberhof Refill and Directwave bank contain a collection of 25 instruments basing on these warm Xpander sounds. Some of the included patches present the original sound nearly unaltered while others make extensive use of the DAW´s FX and modulation capabilities.

Prepared pianos
More sounds from the rotten Rolfing Piano that once was saved from a savaged backyard.
Rolfing Laid Back Vol. 2 contains 6 new multisampled instruments that introduce a nice variety of prepared piano techniques. All kinds of objects like glasses, a ball of felt, printer paper, a curtains bracket and also my thumbnail (which really hurts!) were used to excite the strings and the body of the Rolfing.

Year 1994 ISA-soundboard FM patches
Programmed on the 4-Operator FM chip to be found on almost every 90ies ISA Soundcard, this release contains a stunning collection of classical FM patches like Rhodes, Clavinet, Bells and Basses but also several off-topic sounds.
Sampled from the soundboard´s noisy 16bit output all patches introduce an unique mixture of pristine FM clarity and dusty Digital to Analog conversion.

Eastern sunset
A comprehensive collection of sounds created with the Yamaha Control Synthesizer Type 15.
Each preset consists of its unique set of samples and velocity layers.
The original CS-15 is an often underrated monophonic synth from the late 70's. It is equipped with a dual signal path including 2 Oscillators, 2 Multimode Filters, a dual VCA system and 2 assignable Envelope Generators. With these switch-assignable modules the CS-15 turns out to be more than a simple monophonic analog synth of its time.

Part 1: The Loops
CURETRONIC - a classical sound synthesis system, full sized and modular. Created by developer Matthias Schmidt, two cabinets fully loaded with modules delivered 285 tempo-synced loops directly pulled out of the wall.
No compression, no filtering, no FX - just as is.

Found sounds from the attic
An old house somewhere in the German countryside with an attic full of sound objects like pots, pans, lids, chairs, wardrobes, bicycle frames, basins, bathtubs and shaky windows.
The recordings made there served as the foundation for the creation of a nice selection of long and evolving textures and drones that cover the borderline between tonal and atonal soundscapes.
Every sample has alength of up to 59 seconds and was carefully handcrafted by passing several processing stages.

Rescued from the timber worm
A really rotten upright piano, totally out of tune, with all the keys disappeared.
But the chassis was still complete and made such a fantastic reverb, it seemed to be everlasting. Slapping the lowest string it took almost three minutes until the sound had gone.
With Volume 1 you get the original piano sound picked up at two distances plus five other sound sets using different prepared piano techniques.
The audio demos you can listen to on the left were made completely without additional reverb.

Digital stardust
Do you know the RAPMAN?
A little plastic toy with some plastic 80ies drumloops, some basic plastic standard sounds and a plastic disc for basic standard scratching. Pretty boring at the first glance.
So please DO NOT listen to the audio samples!
Otherwise it may happen that you don´t agree.

Not only a Danish theme...
A dusty Rhodes Mark 1 pulled out of a desolated rear building. We tried to get the best out of it and were amazed about the stable sounds this piece gave us!
Furthermore we processed the recordings through different outboard gear such as tubes and reverbs.
So you will have the original Mark 1 sound plus some nice modifications of it, each one basing on its own set of samples.

Variations on a tank
An analog treasure from the eastern hemisphere.
The russian Elektronika EM-5 comes green and heavy like a battle tank but when taking a look closer it is more like a cancer. Protected by a 25 KG steel body it soon reveals its vulnerability. But once the cheap plastic keys, some transistors and other bowels had been fixed the Elektronika rewarded us with some lovely keyboard sounds not far from the Clavinet and a string section.
With the Tron-5 we have preserved these nice original sounds but also demonstrate that the original CAN sound like a tank. Among other things we added an adjustable suboctave and the distinctive key-off noise that is inherent to this keyboard.

Statements from the lower floors of universe
This time we took a journey to the inner circles of darkness and captured some noiseprints from the creatures that where permanently surrounding us.
We found a lot of borderlined material - is it tonal, is it atonal?
Does the harmonic timbres have enough power to persist against all those buzzes, hums, scratches, noises, purrs that constantly tried to interfere with the sought after paths to the creation of authentic statements about craving, agony or innocence?
Decide yourself.

Endlessly sustaining textures
A collection of fine multisampled instruments specializing in the background colors of the soundstage.
Introducing TICHRO, the Timevariant Chromatic Envelope Modulation principle. (Reason only)
TICHRO instruments consist of two classes:
(1) timevariant constant pitch with chromatic keyscaled ADSR and Filter Envelopes
(2) timevariant variable pitch with chromatic keyscaled ADSR and Filter Envelopes
These instruments allow for easy creation of cluster sounds, crossfade effects, out-of-tune drones and twinkle-melodies.
The FL Studio version has focus on the excellent modulation and special FX capabilities of the Directwave unit.
